3 Fun Practices to Relieve Jaw Tension and Improve Orgasms

Wow, I got a LOT of feedback on that last blog when I posted it on IG.

Apparently jaw tension in people struggling with orgasms is a lot more common than I thought and it is absolutely not gender specific; every-body can struggle with this.

There are MANY practices to relieve jaw tension. The meditation practices I explore on my blog are great but I thought I would pull together a few more playful options for you to try.

Humming

Humming is a simple and effective practice to release tension in your jaw. It engages the muscles in your face and jaw, helping them to stretch and relax. When you hum, you activate the muscles in your throat, mouth, and face, which can help to release and reduce tension and pain in your jaw.

Humming is very similar to the bhramari breath practice I described as a mindfulness practice. The main difference is that in bhramari you stick to one pitch and simply hum on the exhale. With humming to a song, you vary the pitch and therefore jaw muscle activation.

One of the great things about humming as a tension-relieving technique is that it's easy to do and can be done anywhere, anytime. You don't need any special equipment or training. You can do this while you're driving, working, or even just sitting at home.

I created a humming playlist you can access here.

To get the most benefit from humming as a tension-relieving technique, try to do it for a few minutes each day. You may find that this helps to reduce jaw pain and discomfort over time.

Another interesting factor is that often when we have jaw tension, it is energetically connected to our ability to express ourselves. Practicing humming as an expression of connection with our pelvic floor will also connect us more with our ability to be more verbal in intimate moments (more on this in a future email).

Kissing

Kissing is also an effective way to relieve jaw tension by activating and lengthening a variety of facial muscles. These muscles help to stretch and release tension in and around the jaw area, reducing pain and discomfort. A few small studies even correlate kissing with healthy heart habits.

Keep in mind that everyone's experience with kissing as a tension-relieving technique may be different. Some people may find that kissing is highly effective at reducing jaw tension, while others may not notice much of a difference. I feel like it is definitely worth exploring to find out 😉

(I didn’t really think you need a kissing ‘how-to’ section, but if you do, just send me an email and I’ll help you out)

Facial / Buccal Massage

Have you ever had a buccal massage First name / babes? They feel ah-mazing AND they are an incredible way to reduce jaw tension (as well as an holistic alternative to botox). If you've never heard of it, buccal massage is a technique that involves massaging the muscles inside the mouth. This helps to relieve jaw tension and pain, as well as improve blood flow to the area.

I prefer to have someone else do this style of massage but you can do it for yourself. To perform a buccal massage, use your fingers to gently massage the muscles on the inside of your cheeks. Start at the back of the mouth and work your way forward, using circular motions. Be gentle and avoid applying too much force.

Those are my favourite fun practices to relieve jaw tension. I would love to know which one you are going to incorporate to release tension and explore more embodied orgasms!
